Surfactant Technology
Anionics for Wetting, Protection & Formulation Stability
Verdant’s anionic technologies include multifunctional DePHOS® phosphate esters for cleaning and industrial performance, plus DeTROPE® and DeSULF® hydrotropes for coupling, clarity, and compatibility in demanding formulations.

Technology Overview
Verdant’s anionic surfactants carry a negative charge in water and are selected for wetting, detergency, emulsification, dispersing, hydrotroping, corrosion inhibition, lubrication support, and formulation compatibility.
1
What are anionics?
Anionic surfactants contain negatively charged hydrophilic groups. This charge helps drive water solubility, surface activity, wetting, detergency, dispersing, and interaction with soils, oils, particles, metals, and formulation components.
2
How do they work?
Anionics lower surface tension, improve wetting and spreading, help emulsify or disperse hydrophobic materials, and support solubilization in concentrated systems. Phosphate esters can also interact with metal surfaces to support corrosion inhibition, antiwear, and extreme-pressure performance.
3
What are their superpowers?
Multifunctional Performance: Wetting, hydrotroping, detergency, emulsification, dispersing, coupling, corrosion inhibition, lubricity, extreme-pressure protection, and electrolyte tolerance.
Choose the Right Chemistry
Start with the performance challenge, then select the anionic chemistry platform that best fits the need for cleaning, metal protection, lubrication, solubilization, or formulation stability.

Ready to Narrow Your Options?
I need faster wetting and better degreasing in an I&I cleaner
Start with DePHOS® Phosphate Esters for fast spreading and improved detergency.
I need a hydrotrope that is bleach stable
Use DeTROPE SA-45, PA-45 or DeSULF SO-LF33 which are chemically stable in hypochlorite.
I need corrosion protection in a metal cleaning formulation
Evaluate DePHOS® P-4LF, 8028FA or 8038 where metal surface adsorption and corrosion inhibition are critical.
I need extreme-pressure or antiwear performance
Start with DePHOS® EP-185 or EP-136 for EP performance; consider DePHOS® 4AL for antiwear lubrication and metalworking fluids.
I need to formulate a high active dilutable cleaner that can be used in a pump delivery systems
Use DeTROPE® / DeSULF® Hydrotropes to improve coupling, clarity, and viscosity control.
I need to take a macroemulsion to a microemulsion
Try DeTROPE® / DeSULF® Hydrotropes to improve formulation compatibility and expand the stable single-phase region of microemulsion systems.
